Newport Salon Theatre, founded by Emeritus William A. Finlay (UC Chair of Theater and Dance 1994-2019) and Emerita Patricia Culbert (Theater and Dance faculty 1997-2019) launched its inaugural season with a “salon” production of Oh Garcon! in the Fall of 2019. With a season of offerings of five small-scale plays that can fit in a living room or non-traditional spaces, Newport Salon Theatre is a step away from the large scale audiences that Finlay attracted as Artistic Director of the Saratoga Shakespeare Company which he founded and ran for 14 seasons. In this 20th Anniversary year of the Saratoga Shakespeare Company, Finlay has been invited back to direct a world premiere production based on the life of Ludwig Von Beethoven.
