The Office of Residential Education & Housing acknowledges that students at Union College may have circumstances that create a need or desire to stay on campus over the summer break. Although Summer Housing is limited, our office works to provide housing for those who may need to stay. Students living in Summer Housing will be expected to follow the policies and procedures established by Union College and the Office of Residential Education & Housing, which will be included in the agreement as part of the application process.
Summer Housing 2026
Application Information
The application for Summer Housing will open on April 13th, 2026. Applications are due by May 15th, 2026. Students must apply within this window to be considered for Summer Housing. Any student interested in staying on campus over the break is welcome to apply, but approval is not guaranteed, as space is limited. Summer housing locations are predetermined.
All students should anticipate being housed in a double room for the summer term. Students will be able to preference their roommate during the application process.
Summer Housing Criteria
Students must be actively enrolled at Union College in the Spring of 2026 and must be enrolled for either Summer or Fall of 2026 to be eligible to apply for Summer Housing.
To be eligible for Summer Housing, interested students must be actively involved on campus for the duration of the break. To be considered actively involved, students must be one or more of the following:
- Enrolled in at least one summer class
- Completing an in-person, on-campus employment
- Engaged in research through the College
- Enrolled in a local (located within 30 miles of campus) internship affiliated with their degree of studies
Proof of campus involvement, such as confirmation of the class, job, or internship, must be provided along with the application for Summer Housing.
Students who are not otherwise eligible for Summer Housing may be considered eligible if there are extreme extenuating circumstances that create a need to be on campus over summer break. These students will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Move-In & Move-Out Dates
Students who have been approved to live on campus during the summer break will be expected to adhere to certain set dates for their move-in and move-out processes. These dates will be slightly different depending on whether the student is coming from an on-campus assignment in the Spring term or not, and whether the student is transitioning into an on-campus assignment for the Fall term. These dates are non-negotiable, and all students in Summer Housing must agree to them to be approved for summer housing.
