Move-In Information for First-Year/Transfer Students

Welcome class of 2028! The first-year class and transfer students not participating in Pre-Orientation programming will be welcomed to campus on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Students may select their own arrival time in their student housing portal on their assigned move-in date. On the main page of a student's housing portal, underneath the assignment tab, there is a dropdown menu where students can select and edit their arrival times. Arrival times have been staggered to reduce congestion and aid in a smooth move-in experience for all. Please plan to arrive on campus during your selected arrival window.

Pre-Orientation Students: Arrival times are still being determined and will be posted soon.

First-Year International Students: Arrival times are still being determined and will be posted soon.

First-Year & Transfer Students: Arrival times are still being determined and will be posted soon.

What happens on move-in day?

When arriving on campus during your scheduled move-in time, all first-year and transfer students will report to the Old Chapel Traffic Circle (located at 807 Union St, Schenectady, NY 12308).

At check-in, students will receive their room key, and photo ID (if a photo is submitted ahead of time). Check-in will be a drive-thru experience, where a member of our team will come directly to our student's vehicles and complete their check-in there. We ask that all members of each family remain in their cars at the check-in location. After a student receives their key and ID, a map and instructions on where to go to unload and physically move into their assigned room will be provided. All students will be able to park near their residence halls to unload their vehicles and then must move all empty vehicles to our designated move-in parking locations. Members of our team will be on-site to assist with directions to these parking locations.

Orientation Assistants (OAs) and Community Advisors (CAs) will be on hand to assist with the move-in process. We encourage you to label all of your belongings with your name, building, and room number. Our students will be on hand to help students move in, and labeling items will assist them in making sure personal items end up in the correct locations. You are welcome to bring family members or friends to assist you with your move.
